While we were in Gilbert for 2 weeks for Colton's swimming lessons (June 16th-27th) Dallin ended up having to spend 4 days in the hospital. On Thursday June 19th, we went swimming at Melissa's pool, and I noticed a hard lump in Dallin's groin area. I took him to Urgent Care on Friday, and they said it was probably a staph or MRSA infection and gave him some antibiotics to take over the weekend. The doctor told me to bring him back for a followup appointment on Monday. Over the weekend, the lump grew larger and harder and redder. It was really painful and Dallin cried whenever we barely touched it and when he walked he limped. On Monday when we went back to Urgent Care, the doctor said it was "out of control" and that it needed to be operated on. He suggested that we go to the emergency room. So my mom and I took him to the children's emergency room at Banner Desert because they have a good pediatrics section. They got the surgeon to come look at him, and he said it was "disgusting" and they needed to lance it right away. So about 4 hours later they took him in to surgery which only lasted 15 minutes.

Dallin had to have antibiotics through an IV while he was in the hospital. And besides going on wagon rides, he was confined to his little hospital room. We had to take the old gauze out of the incision and clean, and pack it with new gauze each day- which was not fun!

I am very thankful for my mom, who spent the nights with Dallin in the hospital, and Melissa, who helped me out during the day, and Kim, who watched Colton during the days (I think he just became part of their family). I don’t know what I would have done without their help.
