Bear and Horse Adventures

Our cat, Cooter, likes to go for walks with us.  He walks up to the bus stop with the the boys and me sometimes.  He will get distracted and go off the road chasing something, then come back and meow really loud for us if he can't see us.  He went with Dave and the kids to take the horse to the pasture the other day.  He got left behind and started his loud meowing.  Dave and the kids were coming back to get him when 2 bears came running into the road to get him.  Cooter ran to some tall grass and hid.  The bears were searching for him, but didn't find him.  Dave threw rocks at the bears, but he said they weren't very scared of him.  They just wanted to get the cat.  The kids were pretty excited when they got back to the house and told me all about it.  Cooter was lucky he didn't get eaten!

Yesterday I was riding Haley.  I rode her to the top of the hill where the bus stop is.  When I was ready to go back down she wouldn't move, wouldn't even budge.  I kicked her, I got off and tried to pull her with the rope, I got sticks and hit her, nothing would make her go.  I was up there for  a long time trying everything I could think of.  Finally I tied her up, and walked home to get Dave.  We drove the truck back up.  After Dave tried everything and nothing worked, he tied her to the bumper and pulled her home, she fought it all the way too!
We got some advice from a horse guy who is camping near by.  He told me to get spurs and he made me a stick to use on her when she acts stubborn again.  He gave some good advice, so I will see how things go when I ride her again.  I don't know what is wrong with her, but she has been different since we brought her here.
