The County Fair

We had our county fair at the end of August.
Colton was able to put his goat, Noble, in for 4H. The goats had to weigh 60 pounds, and Noble just barely made it after we made him eat and drink a whole lot.

Here is Colton washing and brushing Noble, getting ready to show him.

He had to walk him in a circle around the arena,
then make him stand while the judge watched.

He ended up with 7th place (out of 7 goats), because the judge said his goat was just too small.
We are happy that he at least got to show the goat, and he did a really good job! Of course we thought Noble looked the best!
The next day he got to sell Noble at the auction.
He got a lot of money!  We were very surprised!
Here is the man that bought the goat.
It was very sad when they came and marked all the animals that were going to the slaughter house, and then loaded them all onto a big trailer. We were all crying.
We had all gotten too attatched to poor Noble!
We also entered things into the exhibits.
Dave won Grand Champion for his raspberries.
Colton won a blue ribbon for onions.

Dallin won a blue ribbon for his pumpkin.
Carly won blue for cherry tomatoes.
Colton drew an awesome picture of an elk.
I got blue ribbons for my pickles and canned green beans.
Colton also entered a picture of rifle parts for 4H, and Colton and Dallin both made pinatas for 4H.
It was a fun little county fair, and
we are already making plans for what to enter next year.

Look at all those ribbons! You guys really stole the show! Good job. I think Colton's goat looks the best too. I bet that was sad to know he went to slaughter.

That was the best County Fair I have ever been to. It was so fun to watch Colton with Noble. Your family really did good with all the blue ribbons. I will be there again next year!
