On Wednesday I had just gotten home after walking the boys home from the bus stop, when the phone rang. It was the Sheriff's office calling to tell us that a lot of water was headed to our creek. So we all went down to the creek to watch.
This first picture is the normal creek before all the water came.
It took about 45 minutes before the flash flood came. It wasn't real bad, we let the kids play in it, on the edges.
We were ready to head back to the house when all of a sudden it got louder and we could hear rocks tumbling through the water. We looked back and saw the water rise and more logs and trees floating by. It was quite the flood! It was pretty exciting to watch.
It washed out the road in a few places. I was glad the boys had gotten home before it started since we have to cross the creek 4 times to get home.

Be careful with those flash floods! They can be a lot stronger than they look. A little boy just recently got swept away(and died) by a flash flood.
